College Football North vs South

Friend sent this to me thought I would share.

Planning for the fall football season in the South is radically different than up North. For those who are planning a football trip South, here are some helpful hints.

Woman's Accessories:

NORTH: Chap-stick in a back pocket and $20 bill in the front pocket

SOUTH: Louis Vuitton duffel with two lipsticks, waterproof mascara, and a fifth of bourbon. Money not necessary- that's what dates are for

Stadium Size:

NORTH: College football stadiums hold 20,000 people

SOUTH: High school football stadiums hold 20,000 people

Fathers:

NORTH: Expect their daughters to understand Sylvia Plath

SOUTH: Expect their daughters to understand pass interference

Campus Decor:

NORTH: Statues of founding fathers

SOUTH: Statues of Heisman trophy winners

Homecoming Queen:

NORTH: Also a physics major

SOUTH: Also Miss America

HEROES:

NORTH: Rudy Giuliani

SOUTH: Herschel Walker and Peyton Manning

Getting Tickets:

NORTH: 5 days before the game you walk into the ticket office on campus.

SOUTH: 5 months before the game you walk into the ticket office on campus, make a large financial contribution and put name on a waiting list for tickets

Friday Classes After a Thursday Night Game:

NORTH: Students and teachers not sure they're going to the game, because they have classes on Friday

SOUTH: Teachers cancel class on Friday because they don't want to see the few hung over students that might actually make it to class

Parking:

NORTH: An hour before game time, the University opens the campus for game parking

SOUTH: RVs sporting their school flags being arriving on Wednesday for the weekend festivities. The really faithful arrive on Tuesday.

Game Day:

NORTH: A few students partying in the dorm and watch ESPN on TV

SOUTH: Every student wakes up, has a beer for breakfast, and rushes over to where ESPN is broadcasting Game Day Live to get on camera and wave to the idiots up north who wonder why Game Day Live is never broadcast from their campus

Tailgating:

NORTH: Raw meat on a grill, beer with a lime in it, listening to a local radios station with the truck tailgate down

SOUTH: 30- foot custom pig-shaped smoker fires up at dawn. Cooking accompanied by live performance from the Dave Matthews Band... who come over during breask and ask for a hit off bottle of bourbon.

Getting to the Stadium:

NORTH: You ask "where's the stadium?" When you find it, you walk right in

SOUTH: When you're near it, you'll hear it. On game day it's the state's third largest city.

Concessions:

NORTH: Drinks served in a paper cup, filled to the top with soda.

SOUTH: Drinks served in a plastic cup, with the home team's mascot on it, filled less than half way with soda, to ensure enough room for bourbon.

When National Anthem is Played:

NORTH: Stands are less than half full, and less than half of them stand up

SOUTH: 100,000 fans, all standing, sing along in perfect four- part harmony.

The Smell in the Air After the First Score:

NORTH: Nothing changes.

SOUTH: Fireworks, with a touch of bourbon.

Commentary (male):

NORTH: "Nice play".

SOUTH: "Dammit, you slow sumbitch- tackle him and break his legs!"

Commentary (female):

NORTH: "My, this certainly is a violent sport"

SOUTH: "Dammit, you slow sumbitch- tackle him and break his legs!"

Announcers:

NORTH: Neutral and paid

SOUTH: Announces harmonizes with the crowd in the fight song, with a tear in his eye because he is so proud of his team.

After the Game:

NORTH: The stadium is empty way before the game ends

SOUTH: Another rack of ribs goes on the smoker, while somebody goes to the nearest store for more bourbon, and planning begings for next week's game.

Nothing else in the universe comes even halfway close to the glories of Southern football! GEAUX TIGERS!!

Update

We have been away awhile because we had a death in the family. We are traveling back and forth to visit people.

Hope to be back soon.

Oh No

Monkey is now getting up on her knees and all the way on her hands! I have been trying all day to get a picture of her doing it. She gets up and I get the camera ready and then she falls back on her stomach. Hopefully in the next few days I can get it on camera or video.

I want her to slow down, it feels like just last week that she was learning to army crawl. Saturday will be 6 months and it makes to sad. She as gotten so big. Her independence has grown and her personality has started to develop. She is a big ham! She loves meeting people, she smiles at them and then hides her face in the person holding her shirt.

We went for another walk and this time we went with our friend Lindsay to go get her daughter at day care. We have a day care center right at the end of our street in the front of the neighborhood. We stopped and got snoballs on the way home.

Today I went and got my hair cut. For the first time EVER I got my hair colored and highlighted. I went back to a color closer to what I had when I was younger (hair has gotten darker with red highlights as I have gotten older).

Lots and Lots

We have been busy bees lately.

We celebrated my dad's birthday, G to Monkey. We went to mass and brunch after. While at brunch Monkey got a hold of G's fork as he was bringing it to his mouth and brought it to her's instead! She got a tiny taste of the cake he was eating.

My brother, Robert, came and his girlfriend, Sherri. (Uncle Wittie and Aunt Sherri)

So much fun that Monkey fell asleep on the way home.

Don't know how she sleeps like that

Aunt Caitlyn sent us a Halloween outfit from California.

We woke up early one morning and went to the park around the block and rode the swings for the first time ever. She got a kick out of it.

We went on a family walk and met up with some friends and their daughter.

This is how she rides it sometimes. So funny!

We have a lot planned for the month of October. I'll update as much as I can.

Weather

Dear Weather,

I know this is the South but could you please get cooler? Having days where it's cool in the mornings and then scorching by lunch are just getting tiring.

Photobucket

I want the leaves to fall off the trees(even if it is a hassle to rake them up). I want to be able to wear sweaters and boots. I want to not walk outside and start sweating to death because of the humidity. Can we just get rid of the humidity all together, it plays havoc with my hair anyways. All of my cute clothes are fall and winter clothes and I am ready to wear them.

I want to be able to open my windows for a while during the day and let the breeze blow through. I want it cool for Halloween so we don't die of heat exhaustion while going Trick or Treating. Really cold weather would be nice for Christmas as my Christmas dress is a thick fabric.

I know this is the South, but other places are already having cool weather and it is making me envious of them. If you could work on not giving us an Indian Summer I would really appreciate it.

With a hopeful outlook,
J

Football

I love this time of year!

The air starts getting cooler (at least I hope it does, tired of 100 degree weather), and football is on TV all day Saturday and Sunday.
It's time again to see all our friends every weekend and time to BBQ.

Tonight is the Gold game, that means everyone from LSU should be wearing a Gold shirt! I remember when I was a student getting up at noon to get ready to go tailgating. You've never seen tailgating until you go to a SEC tailgate party. At a home game for us we may heckle you with "Tiger bait" but after all is said and done we will invite you over to join our party and maybe a little gator to eat(especially if we are playing Florida).

Got my purple shoes and Monkey is dressed in gold!
